When questioning me about why teens don't like to use Twitter Wendy Lou said, "But you can do so much on Twitter, like organizing events and setting up plans with your friends. Why wouldn't you like that?" My answer? You can do those things on Facebook an Myspace via chat or mail. Plus those sites have things like flash games, photos to comment on and such.
Teens feel like they need to be distracted from their daily lives and responsibilities. From my personal experience we use the internet purely for entertainment or the occasional homework assignment. When I go online I go to distract myself from all things tedious(chores, homework, life, etc.)
That's not to say all teenagers dislike Twitter or even that we don't possess twitter accounts, but we don't really see the whole point to them. Why go onto a site where all you do is update your status? Can't you do that on Myspace or Facebook or Xanga or Deviantart. All named sites are plus more, anyway.
Twitter is great if you're looking for a job or volunteer work, but those aren't the typical teenage pastimes. That and the people I've talked to are convinced that all tweeters post are pointless updates about their cats, children or dinners. Making a youth see the light past their own prejudices is very difficult. Trust me I know from experiance, we're stubborn as all get out
